The values that guide us

Competent management of wealth requires profound understanding and a transparent approach that values the client’s needs – this is what Bank Gutmann has been standing for since its foundation in 1922. More than 30 years ago, the Bank started specialising in wealth management. Its business model, which relies on partnership and entrepreneurship, guarantees the highest quality, commitment, consistency and independence of its services.

The main focus is on transparency, bespoke solutions, a conservative approach to risk and the protection of capital – i.e. all aspects that contribute to the long-term preservation of wealth. With this approach to client service, it has been possible to strengthen the trust of existing clients and win the trust of new clients even in challenging times. Gutmann is market leader in private banking in Austria. Its work is guided by five values that form the foundation of wealth-preserving management.

1. Strong sense of responsibility

Good advice is independent, free from outside control, and committed only to the client.

The leading principle

In servicing private and institutional clients, Bank Gutmann proposes only solutions that tailor investments to individual needs. Gutmann does not engage in investment banking – this principle preserves the Bank’s independence in assessing and selecting client-specific strategies for wealth preservation. Taking objective decisions in the client’s best interest requires, among other things, the bank’s independence from other business interests. In the common interests of clients, staff and owners, the Bank invests the clients’ and its own assets with due regard to the risks involved. Objective criteria and Bank Gutmann‘s own standards provide the basis for customised advisory and other services.

2. Reliability

Continuity is the key principle in long-term investment.

At the core of all values

Since its founding in 1922, the Bank has been operating as an independent specialist within the Austrian banking sector. Its core competence is the provision of comprehensive investment advisory and wealth management services. The Bank’s history is closely linked with two distinguished Austrian families of entrepreneurs: Gutmann and Kahane. The values that continue to shape the Bank’s high standards to this day can be attributed to the far-sightedness, courage and prudence of outstanding members of these two families. These are the principles that guide Bank Gutmann and ensure their clients sustainable and reliable business relationships.

3. Entrepreneurship

The needs of entrepreneurs can be met only by those who think like entrepreneurs themselves.

4. Wealth of ideas

Big enough to deliver,
small enough to stay agile.

Innovative solutions that inspire

Bank Gutmann keeps a critical eye on its own activities and challenges conventional processes. At the same time, it is seeking out new approaches and explores innovative ideas. New ideas evolve within the framework of its strategic partnership with the WU Gutmann Center for Portfolio Management, which was founded in 2001 with the aim of expanding the scientific basis for portfolio management. Collaboration with internationally renowned experts in finance and ambitious young research talent strengthens financial expertise and the bank’s capacity for innovation. Most importantly, the combination of theory and practice brings forth new ideas and ensures that Bank Gutmann clients benefit consistently from the best and most innovative investment solutions.
